Wayne Stanley Barr, age 80, of Shallotte passed away on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 2, 1936 the son of the late, Garrett Barr and Anne Cerami Barr also preceded in death by his wife, Angelina Barr of 55 years.

Mr. Barr worked with Metro North Railway System as an electrician for 40 years until his retirement. His love was being a firemen and was the Fire Chief of Mahopac, NY and was a trainer for the Brewster Fire Department in New York. He was a fire instructor of New York State. After retiring he moved to Brunswick County and became the Civie Town Fire Chief.

Surviving are two daughters, Deb Kirk and fiancé’ Dave Coniber of Woodbridge, VA and Diana Barr of Catskill, NY; a sister, Judy Antico and husband, Peter of Falls Church, VA; three grandchildren, Jennifer Doughton and husband, David, Patrick Kirk and Carissa Barr; one great-grandchild, Chase Doughton; a special Pet “Dusty”.

A celebration of Mr. Barr’s life will be held at a later date in Mahopac, NY.
