Question Medicare Part B Reimbursement
Question long
Answer

In 2016 my wife went out on permanent disability at the age of 57 and we were told that in 2 years she would then be covered under Railroad Retirement Medicare Insurance and her secondary would become United Health Care.  2 years went by and in October 2018 she was notified that she would be moved to Railroad Retirement Medicare Insurance in November 2019 She was also given the option of getting her own Medicare part B or allow RR Medicare to handle it and deduct from her monthly disability payments (Which is what we opted to do and no action was required - $134 per month).   - She received her new Medicare card and notified her doctors of the change.

I called The BSC in February 2019 To inquire about being reimbursed for her part B payments.  I was told by the BSC (646-376-0123) representative who answered, Monique ( who was very helpful ) - That my wife is entitled to reimbursement and a "Medicare Reimbursement Application" would be sent to her in April of 2019 and she could apply for all payments made in 2018.  She said the reimbursement is always for the previous year.  note: the BSC never did tell me that the reimbursement was NOT coming from them!

In August we received a niotice from the New York State Comptrollers officd and since we had the empire plan, we would be reimbursed quarterly for the amount deducted.  We did then receive a check - it takes patience.
