Charles Castronovo 1947 – 2019
Charles Castronovo beloved husband of Rose Marie Castronovo and beloved father of Eric, Kathy Cosentino and her husband Sal Cosentino, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. He was 72 years old.
Charles Castronovo was predeceased by his son Eric and also his Mother and Father Elena and Joseph Castronovo.
Charles was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 40 years, Rose Marie, and was a wonderful father to his son Eric and to his daughter Kathy. Charles was a kind, generous, giving and wonderful human being—and a true gentleman. He was always eager to help others and lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a kind spirit and was loved by many.
Charles was a graduate of Lakeland High School and graduated from RCA Institute of Technology.
Charles was the Technical Supervisor of The Mechanical Department at Metro North Railroad for many years. Upon his retirement from Metro North, he organized annual retiree luncheons that were enjoyed by himself and his fellow workmates. He also enjoyed going for long walks at FDR Park with friends and his dog Clouseau. He was on the Board of Directors at FDR Park and organized and contributed to many fundraising events at the park. Charles enjoyed traveling with his wife in his RV visiting different places across the United States.
Charles was a living miracle. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer five years ago. He had such an incredible determination to live each day to the fullest—despite his diagnosis. He continued to travel, to laugh, and to be an amazing and incredible inspiration to so many people. It would have been so easy for him to give up, but he persevered and continued to live his life—enjoying and cherishing every moment. He never complained about his diagnosis—not once. He made a supreme effort to drive thousands of miles in his RV to visit family members every year–no matter what.
There is no doubt that Charles is in Heaven. He was such an incredible husband, father and inspiration to so many people—just by being himself—the kind, wonderful person that he was.
He has passed away, but will never be forgotten. God bless you. We love you.
